As of 2021, we have recently discontinued offering Laser Tattoo Removal to patients. Please review our other services to see how Dr. Torres can help.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Laser tattoo removal is accomplished by using specialized laser technology to deliver pulses of intense light that penetrate the top layers of your skin and target the ink particles.
The light then breaks the ink into miniature, dust-like particles that are absorbed by your body. There’s a great metaphor that illustrates the procedure very well: If you can imagine the ink under your skin to be the size of boulders, the laser machine breaks those boulders into pebbles which are small enough to be absorbed by the body and eliminated by your body’s natural lymphatic system.
Multiple treatment sessions are required to effectively break down all the ink particles, the number of which depends on many individual factors, including the depth and/or type of the ink. The sensation of the laser is well-tolerated, but if necessary or requested, we can use different types of anesthesia, such as a topical anesthetic cream. Laser tattoo removal is both safe and effective. We are here to help you get rid of that unwanted tattoo!
Just watch how easy laser tattoo removal can be. The following video is our first session with a patient. The dramatic reduction in pigment occurs in the days afterward as the blasted ink particles are slowly absorbed by the body, but the process itself is easy!
What laser tattoo removal technology does Dr. Torres use?
Dr. Torres uses Picosure technology which is capable of removing even the most difficult colors, such as reds and greens. If you’d like to inquire about how it works and to see if laser tattoo removal is right for you, book your complimentary consultation online or over the phone (858)-230-6513.
Who is a good candidate for laser tattoo removal?
Most people are good candidates for laser tattoo removal, but fewer treatments are typically needed for those with fair skin and tattoos on areas such as the arms, chest, or legs. Older tattoos with multiple colors and tattoos on darker skin can also be more difficult to treat, but modern systems like Picosure work effectively on almost all skin types, textures, and different tattoos.
How much does tattoo removal cost?
The cost of laser tattoo removal depends on the size of your tattoo. Typically, a tattoo the size of a postcard will cost approximately $189 per session, while a smaller tattoo the size of a business card will cost $119 per session. Dr. Torres uses the latest machines that are very effective against difficult ink colors, such as reds and greens.
Dr. Torres uses the best quality equipment to give you the best results. To discuss your laser tattoo removal in La Jolla, call or book your complimentary consultation with Dr. Torres online.

I’ve been to Dr. Torres twice now for tattoo removal after finding him on Instagram. I was so terrified not knowing what to expect but him and his team made it simple and (believe it or not) painless! I actually felt like I was in a day spa. The facility is clean, chic and so welcoming. I actually am looking forward to my future appointments and am considering some of his other services!”
